Buehler, Bats, Bash Giants

Walker Buehler

The Dodgers took out all their frustration from the last couple of losses out in the old ball-field today. The Dodgers have a double-header today to make-up for a rain out earlier in the year. Walker Buehler got the nod for the Dodgers against Chris Stratton. The Dodgers would go on have a bash party by the bay by winning the game 15-6. The Dodgers piled on Chris Stratton early and knocked him out fast as the offense awoke in a big way.

The Dodgers got a season high 15 runs and 20 hits. Walker Buehler (1-0) allowed two runs and struck out six over five innings. Los Angeles lost right fielder Yasiel Puig to a sore left hip after he ran into a wall.  Matt Kemp did not start the game but came in as pinch hitter late in the game.

Joc Pederson had four hits and four RBI’s as he almost hit for the cycle. Chase Utley the silver fox had four hits and two RBI’s.  Cody Bellinger had three hits and three RBI’s.

Chris Taylor had three hits and a home-run as the Dodgers ended a three game losing streak. The Dodgers are still one game below .500 heading into the second game later tonight. The bullpen still seems to be an issue as they continue to give up runs. Tony Cingrani has dead arm and wont be available for today’s games. Pablo Sandoval of the Giants actually pitched in the ninth as an emergency reliever and retired three Dodgers in a row. Pedro Baez came in during the 7th inning and gave up three runs. Baez to me should be toast.

  1. Well they sent a pitcher down and it wasn’t Pedro. It was Alexander and they recalled Verdugo. That is kind of a safety move with both Kemp and Puig hurting. Kemp will be back in there tomorrow against the lefty.

  2. YF

What is your opinion on Hudson?

It was good to see Verdugo come up, and get two hits in his very first game.

He had not been hitting as well as he was in AAA lately, but he showed that our top players in AAA, can get the Job done at the major league level.

That was only one game, but it is important to see a minor league player, come up, and show they believe they belong.

And Verdugo is a very good hitter, and he has made a move to hit with more power this year, so this is an adjustment year, for Verdugo.

  3. MJ, I don’t like Hudson. I like Alexander and Venditte better. Alexander has gotten to a bad start but seriously he’s no worse than Baez or Hudson. Koehlor is going to be another Kazmir. He’s not going to contribute anything. Cingrani with dead arm trouble is a real blow to the so called depth. We did have depth – last year. This year they really need to move the lines and give the kids a chance.

But so far they haven’t. They’re playing politics instead. It’s a real shame.

  4. I liked Alexander’s pornstache that he sported in ST, he became less effective after mowing it down. If he wants to get back in the good graces of the baseball gods, he goes balls to the wall and let’s that stache get back to full 70s porn mode. Short of that, he will be a dismal failure.

Enough Joan Baez, he has to go. He is too much of a temptation for Roberts, send Joan and his gascan to DFA land. Or at least get him rung up on arson charges by the County DAs office.

Did anyone notice if Roberts had fallen asleep in the dugout as the wheels began to come off the Wood-wagon yesterday. I would have thought that hit after hit and the gnats crowd going wild would have brought him out of his slumber.

    1. True, did you see Farmer numbers against righties, why isn’t he getting most of the starts, against righties too.

I am more impressed with what he has done, because he made the most, of the few starts, and at bats, he has been given.

  5. I think you guys who want Baez gone are missing the big picture. Like a few other guys on this sputtering team he’s had some bad outings but his career numbers are actually quite good. Check ‘em out some time. And if you are going to disappear him, who you gonna replace him with? Gotta have a plan and frankly I haven’t heard it and I don’t really see it. Koehler, Cingrani and Alexander was the plan. How’s that working out?

I’m still waiting for the real Dodgers to show up. This mess isn’t Roberts’ fault. This is on Taylor, Seager, Bellinger, Puig, and Turner. When all those guys get going we should be fine.

Now, about that bullpen. With this ho-hum starting rotation we need a bullpen that is nails. Don’t see it. Not yet anyway. Don’t know where we are going to find it but FAZ needs to get lucky again.

    1. Badger

Even if that is the case with Baez, why haven’t the so advanced Dodgers, made Baez go to a good sports psychologist?

It has been obvious for to long, that Baez, needs to learn how to control his emotions, in these High leverage, situations.

Because Baez does anything but bring relief to the Dodgers, and their fans, with all of his sketchy performances.

  6. Package

I hope you are feeling better today.

I understand where you are coming from, but guess what, what they are doing, is not helping the team, or the team would be doing much better!

  7. They put Puig on the ten day DL today, because of a hip pointer.

But I think this will good for Puig, because he could use some mental days off, so he can come back, in a better state of mind, so he will be ready to hit.

    1. Puig has not shown me much this season except his stellar defense. He has lost my support. Time to let Verdugo or whoever show what they’ve got. Puig doesn’t have the goods available to him. His loss, and ours.

How about Joc and Kike! They keep producing. Something has changed. The main thing is the pitching. Atrocious! The failure of both the starters and pen are glaring. Kershaw, Jansen in a meltdown. Hill as usual, finger f**ked, Maeda and Wood sinking in mediocrity. The mistakes of management and the walking wounded they recruited in the past few seasons is now coming back to haunt us. We need Turner, but will he be enough to spark this underacheiving club?
