Checking Out a Fistful of Limited Edition Dodgers Baseball Cards & a Beer Review

One of the legends of the baseball card collecting and trading community is retiring from trading, and I was lucky enough to be included in his final round of trade packages that he sent out to fellow collectors.

Good ol’ Wes, my hermano from way down south in Alabama, was a card trading mentor to me. He showed me that generosity, and not the constant checking of monetary value, is what keeps collecting and trading fun.

In this video I open the package that Wes sent to me. Since he knows I’m a Dodgers collector, it was packed with very cool Dodger Blue cardboard. I’m also reviewing a beer from Founders Brewing. Enjoy!

I was born in the shadow of Dodger Stadium and immediately drenched in Dodger Blue. Chavez Ravine is my baseball cathedral, Vin Scully was the golden voice of summer all my life, and Tommy Lasorda remains the greatest Dodgers manager ever. My favorite things are coffee, beer, and the Dodgers beating the Giants. I also blog about my baseball card hobby at All Trade Bait, All the Time.

  1. Here’s one for you Oscar. That 1954 Hodges you are holding. I have one of those, but it is made out of porcelain. I also have a 1952 Snider and Robinson in porcelain too. I found those on ebay a few years ago. I have them in frames on my bedside table along with cardboard reprints of Campy, Reese and Furillo.

    1. Yup, this one is porcelain as well. Boy, you’ve got two more? You have a nice collection going there. I’m going to do a little research and find out the story behind them. I want one of those Jackies too! 🙂

      1. I found them on ebay a few years ago. I forget what I paid for them, but it was not much. I also have a 1959 Topp’s card that shows Jackie as a Giant, and a 1959 Topps that shows Campy as a LA Dodger coach.

  2. Oscar: I went on Ebay and they have some on there. They are running about 30.00 apiece. I think they were made by the Danbury mint which made an entire set. I found a batch of 7 that I bid on that includes Robinson and Hodges, but also Mays, and Berra, Ford Paige, and Ernie Banks. If I get it, I would sell you the Robinson if you like really reasonable. You have my email, contact me there.
