Dave Roberts Issued One-Game Suspension For Friday Night’s Fracas

For some reason MLB decided to blame Dodger’s manager Dave Roberts for last night’s benches clearing scrum and was issued a one-game suspension for Friday night’s fracas with Padre’s manager Andy Green. During the Dodgers 10-4 win Roberts was seen screaming and finger pointing at Green after the first inning. It was believed that the Dodgers thought that San Diego was stealing signs during the opening frame. The benches cleared but no punches were thrown.

Roberts was very heated during the altercation. Unfortunately Joe Torre and the commissioner’s office felt that Roberts was out of line. Roberts will serve his suspension tonight and bench coach Bob Geren will manage the club during his absence. Alex Wood and Green were also fined an undisclosed amount by major league baseball. The Dodgers and Padres continue their weekend series as Rich Hill takes the mound for the Dodgers.

  1. I told you guys Roberts was doing that for Wood.

And on the pregame show, they also compared Roberts to Tommy.

Like Garvey said tonight, Tommy was the first manager that was really a physiologist .

And we all know how Tommy motivated his players.

Roberts is the same type of guy, because he is also a people person, like Tommy was.

I was lucky to be a young kid in the 70s because the Dodgers went to three World Series during that time.

We didn’t win it until 81, but we should have won at least once, against the Yankees, in the 70s.

  2. How dare them try to steal signs!

Oh wait. That’s what they’re supposed to do. Ithey can they should.

Wood was out of line. You think he’s stealing signs change it up. You don’t yell at a guy for doing what he’s supposed to try to do. You shut them up by beating the hell out of them. They’re the Padres. They suck.

    1. Nonsense!

Wood has an obligation to throw it at the batter’s head to prove a point. And when he charges the mound and the other team plunks one of yours, you plunk another one until a complete brawl ensues, complete with fan involvement.

That’ll make ’em think twice about stealing signs.

  3. Hill looks much better tonight. He’s following through with his pitches. Before they sailed high and to the left.

  4. Hill does look good. But he should. San Diego is the worst offense in baseball. Just throw strikes, these guys don’t know what to do with them.

  5. Hill looks good.

    Forsythe coming into form.

    Depth proving valid.

It’s a definitely high period. The lows are still to come, but it’s a strongly constructed, well-balanced team.

    1. Players will slump or get injured, but I’m encouraged that the Dodgers are where they are in spite of Agon falling off a cliff, Rich Hill being injured and ineffective and Joc and Forsythe not finding their groove. I think Hill continues to get better and Joc and Forsythe pick it up. With rhis team and its depth, there’s someone who will pick it up.
