Have a Day Austin Barnes….

Austin Barnes

The Dodgers have started the San Diego series with a bang. There was a benches clearing fracas following a grand slam home run from Austin Barnes in the top of the first inning. The Dodgers have already put on a show with the bats. They’ve now hit over 50 home runs in the month of June which is a new franchise record for long balls. They’ve also set a record for hitting grand slams this season. One of those 50 home runs was a grand slam home run from Austin Barnes earlier in the evening.

Austin Barnes is having the game of his life. After hitting his first career grand slam home run in the top of the first, he added a three-run home run in the top of the sixth as well to give him seven runs batted in on the night.

The Dodgers have already hit five grand slams this season. Joc Pederson, Cody Bellinger, Corey Seager, and Chris Taylor, have all hit grand slams in 2017. This is Barnes first career grand slam and first career MLB multi-homer game. The Dodgers are currently leading 10-1 over the Padres in the seventh inning.

His second home run is just as fun to watch

That isn’t so crazy because look at Kenley and Baez.

Kenley use to be a Catcher, and Baez use to be a third basemen.

First base is not a position that a player needs a good arm, but there are probably first basemen, that do have good arms.

Agone has a very quick release when he throws, and he makes the best throws to second, that I have seen with a first basemen.

He is just so good at making his throws look so easy to second, or any where else, because he never gets into a big hurry, to make a throw, but his throws are almost always on time, and are easily caught.

      1. There was a first round draftee this year that was considered as both pitcher and first baseman. And of course we can’t forget James Loney. But I think Davis is 30 years old, a bit late to start that learning curve… Isn’t he a friend of Ethier?

      1. Good idea. A cutter too. Yassie Jansen. Bring him in from right field to pitch to a right hander, then put him back out in right. Innovative. Trend setting. Ahead of the curve. Actually, he doesn’t even need a curve. 96 with some break oughta do it.

        1. That is an intriguing idea. If he can throw 96 MPH from the outfield, what do you think he could do from the mound with a windup? I don’t know how they’re getting the velocity numbers, if they’re using a a speed gun type chronograph, the angle of the gun to the trajectory of the throw would tend to make a false reading….

I have to admitt that is funny, but I don’t know if everyone will feel that way.

But I have to give credit, when credit is due.

I remember learning about Pavlov’s experiment in Intro to psychology.
