Dodger’s Manager Dave Roberts Stops By The Jim Rome Show

The Dodgers are in San Francisco taking on the Giants in their final series of the regular season. Two wins in the three game series will give them 105 wins and the best record in Los Angeles Dodgers history. The 2017 club won 104 games. A sweep will give them 106 victories which would make them the best Dodgers team of all time. That’s quite an accomplishment before they open the NLDS at Dodger Stadium on Thursday night. Can the Dodgers finally get over the hump this season and win a World Series championship?

Meanwhile Dodger’s manager Dave Roberts was recently on the Jim Rome show to talk about the Dodgers. He spoke to Jim about Clayton Kershaw’s last regular season start, a two-hit seven inning shutout win over the Padres. They also spoke about Max Muncy’s all-star season. Muncy has been battling some injuries over the final month of the season but he has still hit 33 home runs and earned his first all-star selection this season. Check out a short clip below.

  1. Did anyone notice that Dodgers, despite winning 9 to 2 still struck out 13 times? Those K’s will be exposed come the PS. On Giants broadcast (From where I live the Dodger’s broadcasts are blacked out due to local pro sports teams’ TV rights when they play Giants), Krukow mentioned that if he had a team preparing to face the Dodgers in the PS he would gather every LHP he could get a hold of.. And if ya watched last night’s game you would understand why he said that. Dodgers score all their 9 runs and hit those 3 HR’s of a RHP and did absolutely NOTHING against those Giant LHP

  2. Well, Ryu was a total beast today, almost securing the NL Cy Young Award singlehandedly, not only by pitching a gem, but also defensively, and offensively as well. I would be shocked if he did not win the award.

Muncy and Ryu provided all the runs they would need, as Ryu made the pitches when needed, working himself out of jams, and striking out seven in seven innings in the process.

Maeda pitched a dominate 8th. Then Jansen provided drama, as he hit the first batter he faced, followed by a single to put the tying runs on with no outs. Then Kenley amazingly struck out the next three batters to earn a save. Whew, Dodgers and Ryu escape with a win. Still looking for the Angels to sweep the Astros…. Impossible, you say? Heck, they swept the Dodgers!

I guess Madbum chickened out of tomorrow’s game. Was looking forward to a Max vs. Madbum showdown. Oh well.

So, Dodgers will limp into the playoffs. JT bad back, Muncy Quad issues, Seager hammy issues, Kelly a mysterious injury, Pollock Knee issue, Verdugo Back probs, and no “Closer”. Not good, if they have to meet STL, MIL, or Nats in the NLDS.
