Dodgers Shuffle Bullpen – Josh Ravin Up, Ross Stripling Down

A day after the Cleveland Debacle, the Dodgers decided to switch things around and see if an arm fresh up from AAA will change their bullpens’ doldrums. Josh Ravin got the call up from OKC this morning, and in a corresponding move, Ross Stripling was sent down to occupy Ravin’s old cot.

Ravin hasn’t exactly been burning through the minors. In fact, he’s been getting burned fairly often, as his 7.94 ERA will attest to. That said, the Dodgers love his strike out rate, which is hovering around 33%. He’ll move into the middle-relief spot previously occupied by Stripling.

The last time we saw Stripling, he was serving up 53 pitches and home run balls in Cleveland, so it seems the Dodgers decided their best bet was sending down a tired arm and bringing up someone with 17 Ks in 11 1/3 innings.

We shall see.

My favorite things are coffee, beer, and the Dodgers beating the Giants. I also blog about my baseball card hobby at All Trade Bait, All the Time.

  1. Makes no sense. Stripling had barely pitched at all over the last 2 weeks. If you want to send someone down, why not Hatcher? He is a HR machine. Gives one up almost every appearance lately. Since he has no options, DFA his ass. He is as worthless as Romo. Who also needs to be sent packing.

  2. Makes no sense?
    Hyperbole?
Stripling’s velocity has been off and his curve hasn’t been sharp.
He has options, why not get him back to form?

    1. I did not notice the drop, that’s ok, but the first guy off that roster to me is Hatcher.
