Drop Mannywood 2.0 and Give Manny Machado His Own Nickname

The nicknames being tossed about by fans and the media for Manny Machado, the newest Dodger, don’t exactly inspire excitement.

“Mannywood 2.0” and “Mannywood The Sequel” are tired rehashes of  the nick given to Manny Ramirez (and a chunk of left field real estate), which left behind a contradictory legacy in Los Angeles. Manny Machado deserves to have his own – completely new – LA nickname.

I was born in the shadow of Dodger Stadium and immediately drenched in Dodger Blue. Chavez Ravine is my baseball cathedral, Vin Scully was the golden voice of summer all my life, and Tommy Lasorda remains the greatest Dodgers manager ever. My favorite things are coffee, beer, and the Dodgers beating the Giants. I also blog about my baseball card hobby at All Trade Bait, All the Time.

  1. Uh….

Not sure what to make of that Oscar. Forsythe 2.0 will never get purchase.

Clearly you didn’t read my suggestions on what to do defensively if he stays. Either that or you disagree with the ideas.

Let’s let the team decide what to call him. If it’s up to Kiké it might be Manny Bananas. Machado Goes Ape in LA. LA is Ape over Manny Bananas.

Machado is a shortstop. His number is 8. Dial 8.

    Macho Ocho.

    Or, just Ocho.

Mannywood was a place wasn’t it? The left field seats by the foul pole. That made sense because Ramirez played left field. Machado Grotto could be the seats behind third base down the line.

    1. Badger

You always know when a team leaves to many runners on base early, it usually comes back to haute them.

With Muncy, my first thoughts were live by the sword, and die by the sword.

Yes he is more a DH.
