Who would’ve thought recently called up catcher Kyle Farmer in his first Mlb at bat would hit a game winning double against the Giants. Of course that would happen, these 2017 Dodgers seem to be on a mission and are never out of any game. It was a great game to watch on Sunday night baseball on ESPN, as Madbum and Hyun-Jin Ryu engaged in a pitching battle.
Bumgarner kept the Dodgers at bay for most of the game. Everyone wanted him to battle with Yasiel Puig. Ryu did a great of keeping the Giants batters off balance for most of the game. These Dodgers can beat you all kinds of ways and it was displayed tonight. Madbum kept the Dodgers scoreless for 7 innings. Ryu was given a lot of support tonight because he was in trouble most of the night.
Ryu had the benefit of four double plays to get him out of jams. The Giants hit into six on the night. The most exciting double play came in the seventh inning. Brandon Crawford lined to center with Panik on third. Kike Hernandez gunned him down at home to keep the game scoreless. These Dodgers will grind you down.
Josh Fields was called in for the 8th inning and gave up a solo shot to Conor Gillaspie. During the game the Dodgers left a lot of runners on base. In the bottom of the ninth, Chase Utley hit an infield single. Utley then stole second base. Yasiel Puig then singled him in to tie the game. The Giants took the lead in the 11th inning to take a 2-1 lead.
Corey Seager hit a double in the bottom of the 11th to get the Dodgers in business. You could see the comeback was on the Horizon. Seager has been hot lately. Justin Turner was walked. Kyle Farmer then laced a double on a full count for the Dodgers to get their 9th walk off win.
The Dodgers have been invincible at home. The Dodgers won their 8th game in a row and have taken the lead in the season series against the hated ones.
Its time to for the front office to put this team over the hump. Tomorrow at 1pm is the trade deadline.
