I was born in the shadow of Dodger Stadium and immediately drenched in Dodger Blue. Chavez Ravine is my baseball cathedral, Vin Scully was the golden voice of summer all my life, and Tommy Lasorda remains the greatest Dodgers manager ever. My favorite things are coffee, beer, and the Dodgers beating the Giants. I also blog about my baseball card hobby at All Trade Bait, All the Time.

      That is for sure!

Tonight is going to feel like the post season, because I don’t care if the Rockies swept the Giants, and they don’t have Bumgarner, they are always tough to beat, in SF.

And we will have to listen to Beat LA all night long, unless our guy’s, keep them quiet.

And I hope Kenley will be ok to close out a game, if we get the lead, because he hasn’t worked that much lately, and he needs to pitch, to keep him sharp.

And I hope we can knock Cain out of the game early, or at least, give Ryu some runs, to work with.

I know some people think Ryu’s fastball is doesn’t have enough velocity, but I still think he is pitching better then Maeda has, and hasn’t been that bad.

All of his off speed pitches, are so good, and I remember someone here, was wondering why they are having Ryu throw so many fastballs, maybe they will adjust that, and that might help Ryu, be more effective.

And remember what we did, when Kershaw went down, we didn’t roll over and die, and the Giants certainly are not going to do that either, especially against us.

      1. What I saw was Ryu throwing his 86 mph fastball on the outer margins then getting outs with his change ups on the corners. When you throw as slow as he does, you need pinpoint control.

I know he will have to have better command.

But Rick said that he is still building his arm up, so maybe some velocity, will come.

I do know it is a pitcher’s legs and hips, that also provide power, but I am hopeful.

About FAZ, if they are going by the numbers, this platoon team that they push, have all the same players on it, that they had last year, except Gutierrez, who is on the DL.

And all last year, this same platoon team, was last in offense, in all of baseball, and that is no offensive, advantage.

And about Kike, because of there platoons, Kike has played and started, in the last four of five games.

If our every day line up, got that much playing time, they would probably look even better.

And remember Kike was facing a leftie in those games, and he doesn’t hit that much, against righties.

I don’t think Kike should necessarily start at second against righties, I would try Taylor there, first.

    1. Good points about Kike.
Yup, those are the same basic platooners and so far they’re giving the same lackluster play as last season. I sure hope things change fast – somehow – someway.

  2. I think you guys have it all wrong. The non regulars are actually the regulars now and the regulars are actually the platoon players now

    1. That will surely be the case if other teams start throwing a preponderance of left-handed pitchers at the Dodgers.

  3. ESPN Power Rankings out. We didn’t make the Top 10.

What’s a regular? What does an everyday player looks like? Seager is one. Turner another. And Turner probably won’t play as many as he did last year – 151. Anybody else? Puig I guess.

  4. Tomorrows the big day, MJ, having my pterygium ( http://www.webmd.com/eye-health/pterygium-surfers-eye#1 )removed. After dinner tonight, no food until after the operation, actually when I get home about 5PM tomorrow. One cup of water (coffee) no later than 6AM tomorrow morning. And there’s always the copayment… Seems like a lot of trouble for something I don’t even notice. And I’ll be dopey (more than usual) when I get home, so I’ll be back Wednesday, if I’ve sobered up enough…
