Urias Arrested – How Do We Deal With This As Fans?

The arrest of Julio Urias has fans making hard choices about fandom and forgiveness.  Not just about the player, but about the Dodgers organization.

I was born in the shadow of Dodger Stadium and immediately drenched in Dodger Blue. Chavez Ravine is my baseball cathedral, Vin Scully was the golden voice of summer all my life, and Tommy Lasorda remains the greatest Dodgers manager ever. My favorite things are coffee, beer, and the Dodgers beating the Giants. I also blog about my baseball card hobby at All Trade Bait, All the Time.

  1. Until the judicial system plays out it’s scenario, I am in no position to judge the kid nor will I. He is not on the active roster at this point, so I will neither root for or against him. If he is convicted and sentenced for what transpired, then I can make a judgement. If the judicial system throws the book at him, then he deserves what he gets. If not, and the MLB hands down some sort of punishment, we will all deal with it then. I am only concerned with the performance of those players who are actually performing on the field. Violence on a woman is strictly taboo.

  2. Fans really don’t have to deal with it, Urias, Dodgers, MLB and the legal system have to deal with it. I don’t have to play any role whatsoever. I will continue to root for the Dodgers and let the chips fall where they may, I have no concerns at all. If the boy needs help, get him help, pretty simple really.

I didn’t watch Oscar’s video, so I make no comment on what he said or didn’t say (slowly and deliberately, lol)

  3. How are we supposed to deal with it? I really don’t understand the question. Are we supposed to be outraged and boycott the Dodgers until he’s cut from the team?

BTW, a while back we had a good discussion on Dodgers streaming options so we don’t have to deal with the Time Warner cable fiasco. What were some of the options? I don’t do cable and have just resigned myself to refreshing the ESPN box score, which is pathetic.

  4. Hi DodgerPatch,

If you don’t do cable, you cannot get the Dodgers (unless you use illegal streams.) The discussion we have revolved around the fact that getting cable (in specific, Spectrum) is not that difficult.

    Sorry.

    Onto happier matters:

The Dodgers are 29-16, on a 104-win pace.

    Dodgers last 8 games:
    shutout win
    win
    shutout loss
    shutout win
    loss
    shutout win
    win
    shutout win

  5. He was arrested after authorities responded to reports of an incident in the car park of a Los Angeles shopping mall, with witnesses telling officers they saw a man later identified as Urias shove a woman.
