Welcome Back! Owners and Players Reportedly Reach Agreement To End Lockout

Welcome back!

Despite Commissioner Manfred’s best efforts to blow up the game he simultaneously runs and hates, the Owners and players finally reached an agreement on Thursday afternoon to end the 99-day long MLB lockout.

I’m working right now, so can’t add much at the moment (I’ll have more later) but spring training camps will open tomorrow, and exhibition games are scheduled to start on March 18. Opening day is now rescheduled for April 7. The cancelled games are going to be made up as double headers and all of those stupid covid rules are gone. Thank god. The universal DH will be in effect this year as will a 12-team playoff field.

With the CBA being ratified this evening, a flury of free agency and long awaited hot stove stuff is going to happen all at once. Hold onto your butts guys.

This means the Dodgers could be signing Freddie Freeman. This could also mean the Dodgers resigning Clayton Kershaw. This could also mean the end of Kershaw’s Dodger career…..

GULP

At least baseball is back and we don’t have to go insane watching regular season NBA games for another month.

  1. “Play Ball!” “Let’s Play Two!”

Welcome back Scott!, Welcome back Dodgers!, Welcome back Baseball!

No real winners here…. just losers (the fans). The fans will ultimately end up pick up the tab. Elite multi-millionaire players’, and billionaire owners’ greed prevailed, MiLB and retired legends are still under-appreciated.

I do not like the expanded playoffs. Really makes the 162 game season a waste of time, but thank God, they did not get 14-team format.

I am glad they got rid of the free runner on 2nd in extra innings.

I do not like DH, but if it is good for the goose, it is good for the gander.

I like going back to 9-inning games for doubleheaders.

I think International draft was a good idea…. I’ll give it a chance. I just do not know how this will affect players coming from Asia and the posting system.

Let’s Go Dodgers! Sign Freeman, and just dump Bauer. I do not think Manfred has the balls to ban Bauer from playing, butDodgers should cut the umbilical cord. Still need a couple of legit starters to fill the rotation. Resigning Kershaw and Jansen? I am good either way. If they resign, fine, if they decide to leave, fine.
