Buehler tossed six innings of one-run ball allowing just three hits, walking one and striking out ten. Buehler was totally dominant and the Dodger bats pounded opposing starter Charlie Morton. Justin Turner and Austin Barnes hit home runs, Max Muncy drove in two runs and Barnes even added an RBI bunt as the Dodgers are now two wins away from winning the World Series. Barnes had the game of his life with his sacrifice bunt in the fourth and home run in the sixth.
World Series Game 3
Dodgers 6 10 0
Rays 2 4 0
The Dodgers got the ball rolling when Turner smashed a home run in the top of the first to put the Dodgers up 1-0 early. Turner now has 11 career postseason home runs tying Duke Snider for the most all time in Dodger’s franchise history. The Dodgers scored two in the third and two more in the fourth frames. The rally started with two outs when Corey Seager was hit by a pitch in the foot. Then Turner immediately doubled Seager to third and bother runners scored on Muncy’s single to center. The Dodgers went up 3-0. They padded the lead in the next inning when Cody Bellinger and Joc Pederson singled, and Barnes bunted Bellinger home for a 4-0 lead. Mookie Betts singled in another run to give the boys in blue a 5-0 lead. Barnes homered in the sixth to put the Dodgers up 6-1.
The lone Tampa Bay run off of Buehler came in the fifth. Manuel Margot doubled and scored when Willy Adames doubled him in. That was Buehler’s only blemish on the night. The blistered right hander made 93 pitches on the night. Blake Treinen (who struck out two), Brusdar Graterol, and Kenley Jansen all contributed with nearly scoreless relief. Kenley gave up a solo home run to Randy Arozarena with two outs in the bottom of the ninth.
The World Series continues tomorrow night as the Dodgers will give the ball to Julio Urias in game 4. Tampa Bay has not announced their starter yet. First pitch is scheduled for 5:08 PM PST on Fox. The Dodgers have not been this close since 1988. Two more wins. Go Blue.
