The Dodgers kicked off the second half of the season with a bang, walloping the Dbacks by a score of 13-7. The offense exploded for 13 runs off 18 hits. Chris Taylor had the game of his life collecting three hits, hitting a grand slam home run and driving in six runs. Bud Norris finally beat the Dbacks for the first time in his life and the Dodgers moved a season high 12 games above .500. They also gained a game on the Giants after the Padres knocked off Bumgarner and the rest of those jerks. The Dodgers are now 5.5 games back.
The Dodgers look for a series win tonight as Brandon McCarthy returns to his old stomping grounds as the Snakes will counter with right handed youngster Archie Bradley. The 23-year old second year pitcher is making his 12th start this season for the Dbacks.

For McCarthy this means a return to his old home. McCarthy pitched for the Dbacks from 2013-2014. This is his third start since returning from the disabled list. He’s 2-0 with a 2.70 ERA. Trayce Thompson is out with a bad back which could land him on the disabled list. (Update, it has/) That means we’ll be seeing a lot of Scott Van Slyke and Howie Kendrick in the outfield for the time being. Joc Pederson should be back next week, so it won’t hurt as much as we think it might.
