The Austin Barnes Show in Petco

The fireworks started early in the game when in the first inning with two outs the Dodgers loaded the bases. Austin Barnes hit his first grand slam of his career to make the score 4-0. With Alex Wood on the mound the game seemed about over. In the bottom of the first, Alex Wood accused Padre Jose Pirela of stealing signs from 2nd base.

The umps then gave warnings to both teams. Padre’s manager Andy Green and Dave Roberts got into a shouting match with Dave Roberts shoving Andy Green. Both managers got ejected.

Justin Turner went 3-3 in the game and hit a two run shot in the fourth inning to make the score 6-0. The Padres got on the board in the bottom of the fourth. Logan Forsythe finally breaking out had four hits today. The Dodgers seem like a well oiled machine right now. Even Joc Pederson, Yasiel Puig, and Trayce Thompson have been hitting.

Austin Barnes added a three run shot in the sixth to make the score 10-1. Barnes had seven RBI’s on the day. On any given day these Dodgers always seem to have someone different step up and contribute. Alex Wood became the first Dodgers pitcher to start a season 9-0 in 41 years. Wood’s Era is at 1.83 and I would be shocked if he isn’t on the all star team.

The Dodgers have 50 home runs this month which is a franchise record in any month. The Padres added a two run shot off Sergio Romo in the ninth to make the score 10-4. The Diamondbacks also lost so the Dodgers lead them by 3.5 games. I gotta say today was a good day.

  1. 53 HRs in June, not 50 HRs.

Red hot since Wally was pipped and Taylor began sewing.

Is it time to officially change Bellinger’s name to , Ed-Dinger? (Wait for it)

I am having a difficult time understanding the use of the Mariners’ reject being put into the line-up. Is the Mariners’ reject this season’s Reddick?

Did Badger shrivel up and blow away?

The public wants to know the answers to these and other questions.

    1. “Did Badger shrivel up and blow away?”

Yes. It happened on the way down from the top of Mt Elbert. I haven’t been the same since. My Sawatch Range is now extremely limited. That’s rather obtuse. You may have to google that one.

The book is being written on Bellinger. It’s a simple read – “Don’t let him hit it”.

  2. This will piss off some FAZophants here, but oh well….
FAZ acts like a guy who has been poor all his life (like me) who suddenly inherits a fortune and starts buying and trying everything he ever thought about. There has been a continual stream of failed ballplayers picked up from other organizations. Some have turned out well but most have failed and moved on. Most clubs do not have the time or the money to fool with these grab bags, much less carry them on the 25 man roster. There is one there now, before him it was Eibner, I don’t even remember most of the others. Their latest ploy was in getting Ike Davis, a first baseman and turning him into a pitcher, I can’t imagine why, there is no end to pitchers and ex-pitchers the time and money could be better spent. I think it’s time for Guggenheim to cancel his credit cards and tell him to start acting like a real GM.

          1. Badger

            Tina is much better.

And she is one great entertainer, if you see her live.

But actually her ex was a pretty good musician, from what I have read.

But that is about the best thing, I can say about him!

    1. That doesn’t even make sense. For your analogy to work you would be describing a GM going out and spending big money on expensive players. These little experiments are inexpensive side shows. If something comes of it, great! If not, not a lot invested.

The usual canard used to describe Friedman is that he still has his small market mentality and won’t spend the appropriate money on “stars” who “put butts in seats”

      1. Isn’t a canard an unfounded rumor or a false report?

It’s been since October of ’14. I don’t see any b.i.s. stars brought in yet. I’m hopeful it will eventually happen, like when some payroll clears, but so far we’ve got several million tied up in players that ain’t done much. The stars on the Dodgers were here when Friedman arrived.

        1. I think Green said something about Wood, or one of Robert’s other players.

I think Roberts would protect his players to the end,and especially, to another manager.

I think Roberts is like Tommy was, with his players.

        1. I was. Lonzo was obvious, but I really liked Josh Hart. Good dude and solid player.

Can’t wait to see how summer league goes!

          1. Bobby

After the Lakers picked Lonzo, I am going to get into the Lakers, again!

I Haven’t followed pro basketball, for a long time.

But I caught the last seven or eight games, that UCLA played.

            I like Lonzo a lot!

He reminds me a lot of Magic, with the way he drives up the court.

And I love any point guard that can make every player, as well as the team, better.

You don’t usually see that a lot, in the pros.

  3. Isn’t canard a type of yacht.
Only Badger among us would own a yacht. Oh wait he’s land locked.
