Corey Seager’s NL Player of The Week Award is Well Deserved

Corey Seager (5)

One name that has become increasingly popular in the world of baseball is 2016 Rookie of the Year, Corey Seager. It doesn’t feel so long ago that the newbie made international headlines as the newest addition in 2016. Now, at the perfect time in his career, Seager has once again risen to the challenge and claimed the National League Player of the Week title on the 21st of September 2019, the end of a trying week for the LA Dodgers.

This kind of news circulates positive media attention for the team as sites as prominent as novibet.co.uk keep track of such awards, adjusting betting odds to the strengths and weaknesses of players and maintaining accurate publicity around such rising stars.

The announcement, and a welcomed one at that, was made earlier at the end of September by the group on the MLB network. And supporters accepted the news with welcome arms despite having already known the player’s skill in uniform.

What this Means for Seager

The Dodger shortstop is making his name as concrete as any other notorious Dodger player. He is showing promise and the proof is in the pudding. The newly famed Dodger player is the third win this season. The first to have won a title for the season was Cody Bellinger, he snatched the title on the 7th of April and shortly thereafter Hyun-Jin Ryu won a title on the 13th of April.

The Prize Awarded

The prize isn’t taken lightly by the MLB, in fact, it’s one expensive piece of wrist jewellery awarded to the rising LA Dodger star. The title “Player of the Week” has gotten Corey Seager a new watch which has been specially engraved for him courtesy of Artinian.

How Did Seager Earn the Prized Title?

To earn both the prize and the title, the 2016 Rookie needed to bat .500 which was 10 for 20 with 5 runs scored. In addition to this impressive accomplishment, Seager scored 2 doubles, another triple and 2 home runs. Over 5 games played he achieved a 1.000 slugging percentage and drove in seven runs.

The award-winning week meant more to the player in terms of achievement than any other. What’s more to this achievement is that he is tied for the 10th longest streak for the number of achievements that player has taken so far.

The Fans on the Prized Title Award

Corey Seager is winning the hearts of fans around the world and what they have to say about the player of the week is truly inspiring. Many have conveyed that they have come to love and rely on the quiet slugger. Others have said that he looks good on the field and that he can really make an impact on the Dodgers as a team.

We can only wait to see what else the future has in store for the rising star, but we have a sneaking suspicion there are bound to be many more wins and accomplishments.

  1. Congrats to Cory! An honor well deserved, indeed. I am looking forward to many years of excitement, watching this kid play. I hope a Dodger4Life! I just hope he stays healthy.

Injuries pop up, so you never know. Look at JT’s, Kershaw’s, and Jansen’s problems. I also hope that Cory does not get too greedy and try to lock the Dodgers into a ridiculous, long term, guaranteed contract….just be reasonable.

On another note. At the beginning of the season, when the Dodgers were blowing games left and right (while DR kept shuffling the deck, playing matchups, Lefty Lineup, holding auditions, and relying on Jansen to be the sole closer), Fans said, “It is just one game”, or “We won the series, that’s all that matters”. Well, I said those games were important, and would bite them in the ass at season’s end. Now, look at them…. sure they won 103 games, but instead of securing top spot in wins, running away, they are in a race to the wire, and probably will not lock HFA without a little luck, and help from their “Angels”. Those games they “blew” to their Angels are huge now. I’m just sayin’…..
