The Dodgers open a three-game interleague series against the AL East leading Toronto Blue Jays tonight at Dodger Stadium. The Dodgers are clinging to a two game lead over San Diego in the National League West. After a series loss to the Cardinals it’s not a stretch to say that the Dodgers have not been playing particularly well. But that’s ok. The season is not over yet, and I am sure the Dodgers will be just fine in the end. They always figure out a way to win the NL West. Since the club has been struggling a bit of late, I thought it would be a good idea to get some good vibes going over here again. Let’s take a quick look back at one of the greatest moments in Dodgers and World Series history. I’m talking about Freddie Freeman’s walk-off grand slam home run in game 1 of the World Series last year. I found a very entertaining video showing some of the best fan reactions to Freddie’s historic blast.
World Series championships are incredibly special. Last year’s title run certainly was. The Dodgers overcame a 2-1 NLDS series deficit to eliminate the Padres and then rolled the rest of the way, beating the Mets and Yankees to capture the championship, conquering the baseball world. Dodgers fans finally got our parade as the Dodgers and the entire city of Los Angeles took to the streets with millions in attendance, including yours truly. The boys in blue created unique moments of elation throughout their World Series run doing things that no team has ever done before. One of the best parts of baseball is that thrill immediately after a walk-off or special moment, or series clinching out. Vin Scully said he loved the roar of the crowd. I’ve always loved that moment of elation.
The video features various reactions from all around Los Angeles, Dodger Stadium, and New York immediately after Freddie’s grand slam. There are the reactions from watch parties at houses across Los Angeles showing Dodger fans jumping up and down celebrating and screaming and shouting. There are various viewpoints from around Dodger Stadium. Two from the pavillions not far from where the ball landed. Naturally the pavillions became bedlam during the celebration. There is a view from behind the Dodger’s dugout, along the baselines and the top deck. There are various restaurants, bars in Los Angeles showing Dodgers fans going crazy. Naturally they show a reaction from a bar in New York. Those guys weren’t so happy. There are reactions from Yankees fans in their homes. The look of shock and despair on their faces is pretty priceless. There’s one particular hater called Jankyrondo telling everyone that Freddie was not clutch enough only minutes before Freddie deposited that ball into the pavillion.
There is a view from the COSM, the virtual reality stadium in Los Angeles. There is a shot from the Staples Center during the Lakers game, and possibly the funniest reactions involve children. One family’s reaction shows a six month pregnant Dodger fan being lifted in the air by her husband. I hope that baby was ok. Another one shows a family that was trying to celebrate quietly while their infant baby was sleeping. I thought I saw a little fist bump from that bambino, but I could have just been imagining.
No matter where you were, or who you celebrated with that 2024 World Series run was one that we’ll remember forever.

I know Scott has a lot going on, and it’s not easy for him to write long form, but….
I’m still looking forward to Scott writing his piece on the Dodgers blog community and his experiences therein.
Scott’s background in maintaining this blog (through its highs and lows) would I’m sure be great reading, but add in his experience elsewhere and his sister’s experience?!??!?!
It would be unique and informative, IMO.
It’s coming soon Bluto. Probably during the offseason, after the season ends. It would probably have to be a series of posts.
i believe you said that last year, perhaps some of those exact words
It’s a lot to write Bluto. Please be patient.
Very much looking forward to it Scott.
Me too! Really looking forward to it.
Jesus christ.
Is it just you and I here now?
