It seems like I owe Brock Stewart a huge apology. I thought he was going to get hammered by the Cubs in the Dodger’s 1-0 win on Sunday afternoon. The kid stepped up to the plate and gave the Dodgers 5 shutout frames. His stuff was dazzling and the Dodgers eked out a huge win to take the series from the Cubs. He didn’t get the win but definitely pitched well enough to deserve it.
Unfortunately for Brock Stewart’s efforts he was rewarded by being optioned back to the minors. If the Dodgers continue to get superb efforts from young players like Stewart they should see their MLB sportsbook odds go up.
I love it when young players step up like that in under the radar style. I’m going to have to eat some crow on this one guys. I’ll happily do it because it means the Dodgers won. The win kept the Dodgers two games ahead in the NL West race thanks to young Stewart. So here goes….
Yum…..
And some more…
mmmmm….tastes good!
I am sorry Brock.
While I am eating my humble pie, the Dodgers will be playing a quick series in Denver. This will be the last series at Coors Field this season and then the Dodgers return home again to open a six game home stand against San Diego and Arizona.
Dodgers Lineup @ Colorado-TBA
Kenta Maeda-13-7 vs. Jon Gray-8-6
Game Time – 5:40 PM – TV- SNLA
Tonight’s pitching match-up has Kenta Maeda countering big right hander Jon Gray. Maeda was optioned to the minors for a few days for what was some insane roster manipulation. Maeda is actually on quite a roll having won five consecutive decisions. He hasn’t lost a decision since July 17. He’s faced the Rockies three times this season and is 2-1 with a 1.45 ERA including 22 whiffs against just 2 walks. He tossed 6.1 shutout frames at Coors Field back on April 23. Overall Maeda is 13-7 with a 3.37 ERA in 25 starts. He’s been the Dodgers most reliable starter. As you can see Colorado doesn’t do much against Maeda.

Colorado will give the ball to right hander Jon Gray. The big right hander has been one of the Rockies’ best starters this season. He’s 8-6 with a 4.61 ERA in 23 starts. He’s allowed 8.1 hits per nine innings and struck out 142 over 132.2 innings pitched. With a blazing fastball, he’s given the Dodgers a hard time. The last time he faced the Dodgers he tossed 5 shutout innings back on August 2. He’s faced the Dodgers three times this season and is 1-1 with a no-decision. Gray is 1-2 with a 4.35 ERA in 4 career starts with the Dodgers.

The Dodgers are 7-5 against Colorado but lost two out of three in the last series they played at Coors Field earlier this month. Remember when Colorado was paying great and only a few games out of the second wild card spot? Everyone was getting all worried. Well don’t. They are now 11 games behind the Dodgers with a 62-68 record. The Rockies are still the Rockies. Let’s hope the Dodgers can survive this last series and thank god they never have to go back to this pit again. Well until next season that is.
Anyways, enjoy the game!
Go Blue!

I was also in that, yikes Stewart again, boat. So I’ll take a nibble of that crow and some of pie for dessert. But if he was pitching so well why pull him out so early? Oh well he did pitch good!
Go Dodgers!
Why is Reddick playing?
We all know the answer to that. FAZhole made a terrible mistake and will never admit to it. So he orders the dummy to play him every day.
I have to admit that FAZhole has a ring to it…
Wondering
FAZ hole must have a hole in there head, not to play Toles.
What does he have to do, to be in this line up.
Does he have to hit 400, because 350 plus is not enought?
I think they’re really hoping Reddick gets his bat going in Colorado. If he can’t do it here, he can’t do it anywhere
Bobby
That is what I was thinking, but I would love to see Toles hit the ball in the gap, and run his heart out.
I know; Toles could have 2-3 triples this series for sure
Badger
Arrieta 30, Lackey 37, Lester 32.
Lackey has done well, but he’s already been replaced.
Badger
I was taking about Urias, Stewart De Leon, and maybe Oaks.
I don’t think Lackey is gone for the year.
NOW they rest Turner? He’s hitting around .200 vs. lefties this year but .375 at Coors in his career. Oy vey! And, by the way, Reddick has had lost half his 2.2 WAR since coming to the Dodgers.
Offense takes the night off again, Reddick did get another single. But Rocks can hit in their own ball yard.
Michael
Same of the more from Reddick!
A single with no runners on base.
Reddick hitting about 150, and Toles is sitting hitting over 350 , with two HRs, and three doubles at least
Here is the problem with Ruiz, we can’t have him pinch hit, when a leftie reliever is pitching, because there is only two catchers.
We only can use him, when there is a leftie starting pitcher.
I told you Bobby, one at bat for Toles, and a triple.
It is so stupid sitting a player that can hit, especially because of Reddick, just a one month rental
Pardon my (very short and not family friendly) rant here but Andrew MOTHERFUCKING Toles needs to be playing EVERY MOTHERFUCKING day.
Dan
I Mother Fing agree with you!
And tomorrow we face a leftie pitcher.
Toles has had three at bats against lefties, and he is batting 1000, with three hits.
amazing how he comes up and makes something happen. id love to see him lead off for a few games, honestly
