This Road Trip is Do or Die for the Dodgers

The All or Nothing Dodgers are in a fight for their postseason lives.

That makes this upcoming road trip a make or break situation.

I was born in the shadow of Dodger Stadium and immediately drenched in Dodger Blue. Chavez Ravine is my baseball cathedral, Vin Scully was the golden voice of summer all my life, and Tommy Lasorda remains the greatest Dodgers manager ever. My favorite things are coffee, beer, and the Dodgers beating the Giants. I also blog about my baseball card hobby at All Trade Bait, All the Time.

  1. They got a little breathing room when AZ got beat tonight by the Braves. AZ now 2.5 out. Face it, they need to win at least 7 of these 10 games. With AZ playing the Braves, they have a good chance to put some distance between themselves and the Diamondbacks. But I think they need at least 2 of 3 in Colorado. A sweep would be better. Then they need to beat up on the Reds who are abysmal, but swept them at Dodger Stadium. They are a plucky team and have some good hitters. But the Dodgers have better pitching, so it might just be who gets the best out of their staff. 22 left. I think they need at least 14 wins to win the division. After this weekend, they no longer play the Rocks and would have to depend on other teams beating them to pick up ground. It definitely is going to be a fight. 77 wins for the Rocks, 76 for the Dodgers and 75 for the D-Backs. Difference is that the Rockies have played 1 less game than the Dodgers, so they have 23 left and the game that brings them even in games played is not until the 27th of September.

Just a small correction to your calculations. The Dodgers do play the Rocks the 17th,18th,and 19th at Dodger Stadium. Thought you would want to know.

What is your thoughts on the final days of the pennant race?

I agreed with your thoughts on that line up, and the favortism, on this team.

We didn’t need to see these same players do about the same, after four years in the majors.

There is nothing new here, and that is the truth.

I like the Dodgers schedule better than the Dbacks or the Rocks. At least on paper it looks better to me. I kinda think the team will get hot at the end and that is a good thing going into the playoffs. I would also like to see Toles play a little more to compare him with Verdugo. Yes, MJ we were together on the lineups. Glad to see you back as I know you were gone a little while.

      2. Thanks Pack, I read the schedule wrong…I thought that last series at home was SD and the Giants. They still need to win at least 7 of 10 on this trip….then sweep the Pads and the Rocks at home,..need a cushion on that last road trip
