That’s the question MLBTR posits in their ongoing mock expansion drafts. Right now they are making lists of 15 protected players for all 30 clubs. With no Baseball on the horizon right now, it can’t hurt to slip into a little fantasy. Our list of protected players might be a bit different than the Dodger’s real-life list, but let’s look into this.
MLBTR created a lit of 12 players and then left it up to their readers and fans to pick the final three spots. The final three spots were among a pool of about 14 players. All free agents were excluded from the list, leaving us with the final list. The most popular choices were Chris Taylor, Ross Stripling, Starter David Price, outfielders AJ Pollock, Matt Beaty and catcher Austin Barnes. None of those are surprising. I have to wonder about the sanity of the 5.92% of fans that picked Scott Alexender….I mean….Why? Check out the results and vote for yourself.

Kelly, Pollock, Price, Beatty, Barnes. I would agree with those. I would not protect Kolarek or Alexander. But that also leaves them without a lefty in the pen. Urias and Ferguson could fill that role. Wood is not really suited to be a reliever.
