Sports is not just physical, it’s a mental game as well. Baseball especially can be a mindset over matter during a long and grueling 162 game season. I think it was Yogi Berra who once said that baseball was 90% mental and 10% physical. Many teams have employed counslers and sports psychologists to help players prepare for the upcoming regular season or for a big game. The Dodgers even once hired Russian Faith healers. That’s not particularly psychological, but it is funny and points out that there is much more to the game and sports in general than just physical abilities. By the way, the Russian Faith healers were all under Frank McCourt. The Dodgers have come a long way.
This is where I introduce Head Games, a sports psychology podcast hosted by two sports psychologists. Benjamin Rosenberg and Ben Levine are two PHD doctors and avid sports junkies that host the emerging podcast. They interview all kinds of athletes across all major sports. On the latest episode they sat down virtually with Dodgers prospect DJ Peters to talk about his training for the upcoming season, team chemistry, baseball during COVID, and the World Series Taxi Squad. Have a listen and check out their podcast site to listen to future episodes.
Head Games is a podcast that covers current events in sports and how psychology can create a unique and enlightening perspective. Along with our guests, we provide professional psychological and sports perspectives that any fan can enjoy.
