Jim Rome Show Latest: Dodgers Star Cody Bellinger Most Complete Player Since Bo Jackson, Scouts Told Tony Luftman

We knew Cody Bellinger was good when we first saw him play in Dodger’s major league spring training camp a few years ago. Most of us however had no idea he would blossom into the superstar that he has become. Solid regular? Certainly. All-star, surely, but the best player in baseball? I don’t think any of us saw this coming. But some scouts did see this coming. Tony Luftman states on the Jim Rome show that scouts told him that they thought Bellinger was the most complete player since Bo Jackson. Luftman is an NHL analyst and television personality. Bellinger’s incredible talent was so big that it leaked over into sectors outside of baseball. Even an NHL analyst heard that Belli was the bomb.

Well here we are in 2019 and Bellinger is threatening to not only win the National League MVP, but also the triple crown. He’s in the top two or three in just about every offensive category this season. Check out the video clip below from the Jim Rome show where Luftman and Rome discuss Bellinger’s massive talents.

  1. I have not listened to or watched Rome since I left LA in 1994. Never liked his bullying attitude anyway. That being said, he does get some very knowledgeable guests. Right now Belli is playing like a bona fide superstar, and he is handling his little slumps really well. Good chance to break the Dodger HR record of 49. The Dodgers at this point have 3 hitters who could end up with 30 jacks. Belli, Joc and Muncy. They also have 2 other guys who could end up with 20, Kike at 17, and Turner who now has 13 and is hitting with more power lately.

    1. I did when I lived in So. Calif. before moving in 2004. But it was only for the last few years or so while down there that I did. Rome reminded me of the Sports talk show answer to Wally George’s Hot Seat Show back in the day on Channel 56 in Anaheim, Calif.

      1. Wally George, what an awesome awesome show, I can remember some hilarious times watching Uncle Wally with friends. A definite must see event. However don’t mind me, I long for the days of Ernest Angley too, now that was pure entertainment, he never ceased to deliver great times to me and my college buddies. Ah, the good old days. Thank you Wally and thank you Ernest for the years of entertainment you so generously provided, RIP

  2. If one were to believe all the rumors circulating right now, he would believe that the Dodgers are in on every relief pitcher out there. Unbelievable. One of MLB.com’s writers predicts the Dodgers will end up with Giles and Texas reliever Martin. Problem there is that it does not include a lefty. Dodgers need that right now. Ferguson is not the answer. He has not been close to the same guy he was last year, and at some point, Urias is going to be back in the rotation for a while. I think AF might go in a direction none of us suspect…we will see, only 8 days til the deadline

  3. As part of the 100 million dollar renovation of the stadium, there will be a Sandy Koufax statue. That’s pretty cool and I am glad they are doing it while he is alive. Vin Scully should have one too. All the work expected to be done before next season starts.

  4. Rocky Gale outrighted off of the 40 man roster. He was not DFA’d so he is still at AAA just not on the 40 man. Roster is now at 38.
