Well I had the recap all typed up when the Dodgers were up 4-1, and it looked like it was going to be an easy win. Then the Phillies started to rally in the bottom of the ninth and the Dodger’s bullpen started to implode. We’ve seen this play out before in the regular season, but somehow, someway, the Dodgers survived and hung on to beat the Phillies 4-3 in what turned out to be a heart thumping nailbiter. The Dodgers will go home with a 2-0 NLDS series lead.
There were so many heroes in this game, there are almost too many to mention. The Dodgers gave the ball to Blake Snell and he delivered with six scoreless innings and nine strikeouts. The Dodger bats didn’t get going until the late innings against opposing starter Jesus Luzardo. The Dodgers finally broke through a scoreless tie with four runs in the top of the seventh.
Teo singled to center and Freddie Freeman doubled him to third. Philadelphia went to their bullpen with Orion Kerkering and he struck out Tommy Edman. Then Enrique Hernandez’s swinging bunt single scored Teo from third. Trea Turner’s throw on the little dribbler was wide and Teo slid just ahead of the tag. Replay review confirmed the call and the Dodgers took a 1-0 lead. After a Max Muncy walk and Pages Popped out, pinch-hitter Will Smith’s line drive single to left scored two to put the Dodgers up 3-0. Shohei Ohtani immediately singled in Muncy to give the Dodgers a 4-0 lead.

That’s how it would stay until Emmet Sheehan pitching in relief gave up a run in the bottom of the eighth. Marsh flied out, but Max Kepler triples and Turner singled him home. 4-1 Dodgers in the eighth. Sheehan got out of it by whiffing Schwarber and getting Bryce Harper to fly out to center.
The Dodgers brought in Blake Treinen to close it out in the bottom of the ninth. This is where things got dicey. Alec Bohm singled and J.T. Realmuto followed with a double to put runners at second and third with nobody out. Nick castellanos doubled in both runs and the dodger’s lead was now down to one at 4-3. In comes Alex Vesia. The Phillies have Bryson Stott sacrifice bunt, but the Dodgers are able to get the lead runner at third on a great play. Then Harrison Bader singles Stott to second and the Dodgers are still in a mess. The Dodgers get a force out on Kepler, which cut down the runner at second. Now there are two down and runners at the corners. The Dodgers bring in Roki Sasaki (who probably should been brought in at the beginning of the inning anyways) and he gets Turner to ground out to second, with Freddie making a spectacular pick on a low throw from Edman. Dodgers hang on!

The Dodgers will fly home with a chance to sweep on Wednesday. Yoshinobu Yamamoto will take the mound for the Dodgers while the Phillies will try and stave off elimination with Aaron Nola. The Dodgers are nine wins away from winning another World Series title. Let’s go!!!!!!
