World Series Start Times Announced

World Series Logo at Dodger Stadium

29 years ago the upstart Dodgers won the World Series when they defeated the Oakland Athletics in five games. That iconic moment when Orel Hershiser struck out Tony Phillips to record the final out and was lifted into the air by catcher Rick Dempsey in celebration still stands out in our minds. We honor and remember that incredible 1988 club on a daily basis.

The Dodgers are all about recognizing history and past accomplishments. But that was the last time the Dodgers won the World Series, or even appeared in the fall classic. As much as we love to reminisce about 1988, I think we’re all a little tired of that being the Dodgers last World Series memory. Dodger fans have been in desperate need of new memories.

Thirsty for a World Series Dodger fans have had to suffer through nearly 30 years of losing. Our long collective nightmare finally ended when the Dodgers won the pennant on Thursday night by beating the Cubs 11-1 in game 5 of the National League Championship Series. The Dodgers won the series 4-1 and secured the organization’s first pennant since 1988. We’ve entered uncharted territory.

This is the Dodger’s tenth World Series appearance since moving to Los Angeles in 1958. The Dodgers have won five championships in Los Angeles and six overall. The last time the Dodgers hosted the first game of the World Series was back in 1988.

On Tuesday night the World Series will kick-off at Dodger Stadium. Just wait until you see that beautiful World Series logo on the Dodger Stadium grass. You will totally freak out. 1. Thank god the games are not on TBS. I could not take another game listening to those guys. But now we will be subjected to Joe Buck….another clone like announcer with a decided east coast bias, so lord help us if the Yanks are in this. Just reported, Cubs firing their pitching coach Chris Bosio. That’s cold man. The guy had to limp out there so many times on a broken ankle and you fire him?? He deserves a medal for having to watch that gas can brigade of relievers they gave him!

  2. I hate those 5pm starts, terrible sun on the right side for the first 2 or 3 innings. However the TV people want to make cash and need to get it started before too late on the least coast.

I am so glad we are done with those fools on TB-less, that was so bad and so one-sided. Even when the series was over after Game 5, the studio guys turned the bulk of the broadcast to what the Cubs needed to do, etc etc. How about the bulk of the broadcast being about what the Dodgers did to the Cubs, total horseshit broaddcasting, Just really bad. In the booth, the reluctance to address the dominance of the Dodgers pitching and rather talk about how the Cubs just couldn’t get going at the plate was mind boggling, how about this: how about the Dodgers pitching dominating and not allowing the Cubs hitting to get going, hmmm.

So do we really want to face the Yankees and have to put up with such bullshit broadcasts, even though the Yankees will be much more beatable? Frankly I think both the Yankees and the Astros are very beatable for the Dodgers. I think I like a Kershaw v. Verlander match up, and the following matchups as well, right down the line. If anything, if you want to really see Kershaw’s A-Game just wait until he matches up with Verlander. In that circumstance Kershaw will go beyond any mode that you have ever seen him in, he will be one tough customer, (Turner said he has never seen his curveball as good until then) we haven’t seen red-ass until that happens, Kershaw will be a maniac starting on Sunday, he won’t wait to put on his game-face until Tuesday, his poor wife.

      1. I think the longer the series goes the better it is for us. The Astros have to rely on their two aces with leaky bullpens. I remember we had that same thing for several years … but never a WS.

  3. Report says the Giants are shaking up their coaching staff. Righetti out as pitching coach. Gardner and Muehlens to be reassigned. Some domino’s falling early into the post season for non participating teams. Cora considered one of the front runners for Nats manager, and also for the BoSox.
