The Houston Astros must be punished for their cheatin’ ways, but the players won’t feel a lost draft pick or two. The entire team should have their 2017 Postseason stats stripped from the record.

I was born in the shadow of Dodger Stadium and immediately drenched in Dodger Blue. Chavez Ravine is my baseball cathedral, Vin Scully was the golden voice of summer all my life, and Tommy Lasorda remains the greatest Dodgers manager ever. My favorite things are coffee, beer, and the Dodgers beating the Giants. I also blog about my baseball card hobby at All Trade Bait, All the Time.

That is not going to happen and I think we all know that. MLB is very slow in cleaning up it’s bad side. Look how long it took them to weed steroids out of the game, and players still get caught using them. When they banned the spit ball, they allowed pitchers who were active when the ban was declared to continue to throw the pitch. One of the beneficiary’s of that was Burleigh Grimes. So making the players pay is not going to happen. The Stros will likely get a slap on the wrist and fines.
I couldn’t agree more. What has MLB done about Bonds’ cheating? MacGwire’s? Ryan Braun using PEDs to put up MVP numbers? NOTHING.
MLB management is causing the game to become fodder for the cynics. If they would vacate the championship, eliminate post season bonuses and rings – it would truly send the message that cheating will not be tolerated.
Right now, by not acting immediately and forcefully they are sending the message they’re more concerned with minimizing the negative impact on the league than in reinforcing baseball’s supposed intolerance of cheating in all its forms.
And all of this will do nothing for the teams that lost games, regular, post season and World Series. Remember, video with sound is available of ALL those games. MLB CAN determine fairly accurately which games were impacted by the cheating,.
