NLCS Game 3: Dodgers Beat Brewers, One Win Away From Returning to World Series

Mookie and Edman

It’s almost unbelievable but the Dodgers are just one win away from returning to the World Series in 2025. They took a 3-0 series lead in the NLCS by defeating the Milwaukee Brewers 3-1 in game 3 at Dodger Stadium on Thursday afternoon. For a team that played poorly for a large chunk of the regular season and had massive problems with the bullpen, injuries and consistently winning series, this is an amazing run. The Dodgers are now 8-1 in the postseason this year.

Tyler Glasnow pitched 5.2 innings allowing just one earned run on three hits with three walks and eight strikeouts. The Dodgers took him out with two outs in the top of the sixth after making 99 pitches. The Dodgers used four relievers, Alex Vesia, Blake Treinen, Anthony Banda, and Roki Sasaki to hold the Brewers scoreless the rest of the way.

Milwaukee’s pitching plans did not go to plan. They used Aaron Ashby as an opener, and the Dodgers touched him for a run in the bottom of the first. Shohei Ohtani tripled down the right field line and scored on a Mookie Betts’ double.

The Brewers would answer with a run in the top of the second when Caleb Durbin tripled, and scored on a ground ball single into center by Jake Bauers. Glasnow’s throwing error on a pick-off attempt nearly cost them a run, but the Dodgers got out of the inning. Milwaukee called in Jacob Misiorowski, and he was quite dominant early on. He kept the Dodger bats at bay until the bottom of the sixth.

In that sixth inning the Dodgers scored twice. Will Smith singled to left. Freddie Freeman walked. Tommy Edman singles to center to score Smith and give the Dodgers a 2-1 lead. Ironically, it was a Milwaukee pitcher’s errant pick-off throw that cost them a run. Abner Uribe strikes out Teo, but then during Max Muncy’s at-bat he tries to pick-off Edman and throws the ball away. Freddie scores and it’s now 3-1 Dodgers.

Vesia gave up a double to Durbin in the top of the seventh, but comes out for Blake Treinen. With two outs in the inning, in the middle of his at-bat with an 0-2 count, Jackson Chourio injures his hamstring, or suffers some kind of leg injury and has to come out. Pinch-hitter Blake Perkins finishes his at-bat and strikes out. Banda and Sasaki each toss a scoreless frame to end the game.

The Dodgers need just one more win for the National League pennant. Game 4 is tomorrow as the boys in blue will go for the sweep. Ohtani will take the mound for the Dodgers. Milwaukee has not announced their starting pitcher. Just repeat baby! Five more wins.
