Series Preview: St. Louis Cardinals at Los Angeles Dodgers

Your Los Angeles Dodgers finally return home after their East Coast road trip to face off against the Cardinals. The way the Cardinals are playing right now, a series win at least should be the expectation, but for some reason, when these two teams meet, it never goes according to plan.

Game 1:

Tyler Glasnow(LAD) vs. Sonny Gray(STL)

Two outstanding pitchers facing off against each other on a Monday night, it just doesn’t get better than this. A plethora of Dodgers have faced Gray with success over the years, and as for Glasnow, he has faced some of the Cardinals’ lineup, and they have not had any success against Glasnow, as none of them have gotten a hit off the righty. The first pitch is scheduled for 7:10 PM PST on Sportsnet LA.

Game 2:

Emmet Sheehan(LAD) vs. Miles Mikolas(STL)

This pitching matchup favors the Dodgers in a big way, as at times Mikolas has looked like he was pitching in the Home Run Derby. The Dodger lineup has faced Mikolas in the past with pretty success, and for the Cardinals, they have never faced Sheehan. This should be a game that is put in the win column. First pitch is scheduled for 7:10 PM PST on Sportsnet LA.

Game 3:

Shohei Ohtani(LAD) vs. Mathew Liberatore(STL)

This game will be the question mark game of the series, just based on Ohtani’s last outing. Cramping was the reason Ohtani could not continue to pitch in his previous outing, but he has since continued to be the DH in every game. This should mean that Ohtani will be on his A game, and the matchup favors the Dodgers. The unknown element is what puts this game in the toss-up category. Both offenses have faced the opposing pitcher, and Ohtani will have to be careful against Nolan Gorman, as the Cardinal hitter has a .667 average and a home run against the righty. This will be an afternoon game with first pitch scheduled for 1:10 PM PST on Sportsnet LA.

Outlook:

The Dodgers theoretically should take two out of three at least here, as the Cardinals have struggled mightily recently. The Dodger offense will need to continue hitting with runners on base and moving runners. If the pitching holds up as it has been here lately, this may be a series sweep. Blake Treinen will need to figure some things out as he has struggled since coming back, and we will all hold our collective breaths a

Growing up and living in Oklahoma I fell in love with the game of baseball from an early age from playing T ball through High School. I have always had an admiration for the Boys in Blue with how the Dodger Way is the right way to play the game. Tommy Lasorda is my favorite manager of all time and my all-time favorite players are Jackie Robinson, Pee Wee Reese, Sandy Koufax, Pedro Guerrero, Mike Piazza and Clayton Kershaw. I am enamored with Dodgers history from the Brooklyn days when they were Dem Bums to the days of Fernandomania to Mannywood and beyond. Vin Scully will always be the best announcer the game has ever seen and it will always be time for Dodger baseball. I am married to the love of my life Melissa who gave me the inspiration to actually take on this crazy idea of writing about the Dodgers and without her support I would not be able to do what I love. My cousin Zach Chase and uncle John Chase for being a Dodger encyclopedia and sharing their knowledge with me. I will bring my perspective and love for the team to readers and I will most likely have spelling errors from time to time but I promise ill do my best on it. I want to bring you a unique perspective on your favorite team and also throw some humor along the way. I love to talk about baseball with anybody who will listen and I look forward to the Dodgers going back-to-back in their quest for another World Series Championship. Dodger Blue through and through.
