We don’t know when the 2021 season will start and what it will look like. We also don’t know what the 2021 Dodgers will look like as they attempt to defend their World Series Championship. The Dodgers come into the winter as champions with a number of free agents, which include team leader and franchise soul Justin Turner. It also includes super utility man Enrique Hernandez, who has spent the last six seasons with the Dodgers. It appears that the Boston Red Sox are trying to grab Enrique away from the Dodgers.
Throughout that time he’s been an integral part of the club’s postseason runs over the past six seasons. Those have included several moments of extreme power, clutch hitting and superior defense. It’s also included lengthy stretches of streaky hitting and poor on-base skills. regardless Hernandez has been one of the Dodger’s better hitters in the postseason and losing him would be a touch blow for the position player side of the roster. Hernandez is now 29 years old and slashed .230/.270/.410 with 5 home runs 20 runs batted in over 148 plate appearances in 2020. Hernandez batted .313 ( 4 for 13) with 2 home runs, one of them being a clutch seventh game-tying home run in the 2020 NLCS against the Braves. Of course Hernandez will most be remembered for his three home runs in the pennant clinching game of the 2017 NLCS and for his funny antics.
The Red Sox are showing “a strong interest” in free agent Enrique Hernandez, as per Chris Cotillo of MassLive.com (Twitter link). Boston is the second team to be publicly linked to Hernandez this winter, as the Twins were reported to be looking at the utilityman earlier this month.
